For the second year in a row, singer Ivete Sangalo will perform in partnership with the Bahia Youth Orchestra (Neojiba), with proceeds going to Hospital Martagão Gesteira, a philanthropic institution that offers treatment to children and adolescents with cancer in Salvador.
In her next charity performance, the singer will share the stage with Neojiba on November 3rd and 4th at the Castro Alves Theater (TCA). “The songs I’m going to sing are songs I’ve already recorded, which continue to be great hits in my voice, in my life. The ticket will be expensive and everyone will buy them,” joked the Bahian muse.
The announcement was made this Thursday (22), during the delivery of the hospital’s new ICU, built with the money raised at last year’s show with the Bahia Youth Orchestra.
“We wanted to make a commitment to tell the public: ‘this is a joint effort, you gave to us too’. The hospital thanks the public who came, the public who didn’t come but who showed up, the people who donated, all of this contributed to making this happen”, commented Ivete during the inauguration.
The singer visited the health unit to see the new wing, which bears her name. There are ten beds that can increase the number of surgeries at the hospital by 40%. The new unit can treat around 45 children per month. The investment was R$1 million. Of the total raised, R$2 million was left over, which according to management, will be used to expand the hospital in 2017.
